"Arroyo Run"
New Mexico's arid midsection is furrowed with arroyos-intermittently dry creek beds that channel fast-flowing water from sudden storms. Salmon-colored earth is dotted with heather green sage and the deep pine of pinyon scrub. The air fills with pink talcum dust as this band of Quarter Horse mares thunders through one of the many arroyos on the San Cristobal Ranch in Lamy, New Mexico.
