I entered the world of horses relatively late in life, by most standards. The bond I developed with my own horses inspired me to pursue a deeper understanding of equine behavior. I began to appreciate the sophistication inherent to their communication, which combines motion, expression, contact and sound.

The level of trust horses are capable of demonstrating in their alliance with people is remarkable, and often contrary to natural instinct. In our routine encounters with horses, we may overlook or take these venerable relationships for granted. Our vision of their beauty and character can be lost in the blur of movement or obscured by the safety of distance. As a photographer, capturing these elusive moments has afforded me an exceptional and rewarding challenge. Through my camera lens, I incorporate a visual element to the equine vocabulary, allowing a momentary view of the world from their unique perspective.

I came to realize the spirit of these impressive animals could best be illustrated through my work. On those occasions when I am permitted an intimate glimpse into their world, my intention is to produce imagery that captures each horse's distinctive personality and strength.
