A friend recently gave me an unexpected gift in the form of a book. “Hunting Dogs: A Photographic Tribute” by Russell A. Graves, is a 120-page book containing beautiful photography and a number of poignant essays. Graves, a featured photographer for the Outdoor Writers Association of America, divided his book into two primary sections; breed types and seasonal observations by the author. Breed types highlighted include Pointers, Retrievers, Hounds, and Flushing Spaniels. The second portion of the book uses the four seasons as a backdrop for describing, and displaying imagery regarding, typical activities from autumn’s opening day to spring-time whelping. A terrific addition to any hunting dog owner’s library.
